The Morobe Show
The Morobe Show
The Morobe Show is the oldest festival in Papua New Guinea.
The Lae International Hotel is privileged to be located in one of very few provinces that host an annual event such as the Morobe Show. The Morobe Show is the oldest festival in Papua New Guinea since its inception over 50 years ago. The show usually takes place in October/November and is mainly staged to showcase technological improvements in the region's agricultural industry.
It is one of the country's largest events that attracts crowds of over 30 000 annually. Although the cultural aspect of the show is a lesser feature of the overall show, the festival does attract the largest variety of sing-sing (traditional dance) groups. Amazingly 13 of Papua New Guinea's 19 provinces were represented in the last Morobe Show with over 2000 performers in over 80 sing-sing groups.
